Dillinger Escape Plan - Ire Works

I've always apreciated Dillinger Escape Plan, but found their stuff very hard to get into. It's fairly epically crazy. No real song structure, crazy vocals, odd guitar. So while old school Dillinger fans probably hate it and me now, Ire Works is a way more listenable album. It has plenty of rediculous Dillinger, but it's nowhere near as overly crazy.
Listening to Ire Works, a couple of songs jump out almost as 'poppy', but realistically it's only in the context of more traditional Dillinger music that the two songs 'Black Bubblegum' and 'Milk Lizard' seem this way. Without a doubt these are my two favourite songs on the album. Bubblegum screams Faith No More in a major way, which I guess is hardly suprising for a band that had Mike Patton sing on an EP when they were searching for a new singer. Whereas Milk Lizard, to me, sounds almost like it was taken from a Bronx album, then added some sax and piano to it. It kicks arse.
To tell the truth I'm a bitter about this right now. I only discovered this album after I passed up an oppurtunity to see Dillinger, because I didn't really know their stuff too well, and like I said, it's hard to get into. Ire Works is like a gateway drug though, listen to it and suddenly Calculating Infinity isn't a big easy enjoy.
